A Broad-based Approach in Serving Malawi
You Turn’s holistic approach includes sharing the Gospel, and addressing both physical and spiritual needs. This work showcases the power of collective action and generosity in creating meaningful change. Here are other stories from this transformative journey in Malawi from the month of June.
Machinga District Outreach
Working with partners from Sale Street Baptist Church, You Turn’s church planting efforts continued among the Yao people. Jeremiah, water well technician with You Turn, reported, “There is a massive growth of Christianity in these areas, so let us continue praying for a great revival among the Yao people in Machinga.” In June, the Sale Street mission team also helped distribute the last of 1,320 boxes of emergency meal packets provided by A Child’s Hope and Urbancrest Baptist Church. Each packet feeds six people resulting in 190,000 meals to help families affected by drought and crop failure resulting from last year’s cyclone.
Water Projects
You Turn and our partners are delivering clean water solutions and the Good News of the Gospel to Malawi, where water scarcity affects 7.3 million residents. By installing and repairing wells, we have provided clean water to 86,000 people in the first half of 2024, offering hope and vitality. A total of 38 new wells and 69 repaired wells are meeting critical clean water needs in 107 villages where families are benefiting from increased school attendance, a renewed focus on income-producing tasks and relief from diseases related to unsafe drinking water.
Orphan Care
Every week, an average of 80 orphans are cared for at our two Lighthouse programs. Warm meals, Bible lessons, academic support and the love provided by the teachers and staff combine for a welcoming atmosphere for children whose families have been affected by the loss of one or both parents. In June, blankets and sweaters or jackets were provided by concerned donors who responded to the requests of our Lighthouse staff on behalf of the children. As of the end of June, 10,400 meals have been provided this year to the children who attend before or after school, Monday to Friday.
Become a Contributing Partner
There is no more important time to partner with You Turn in serving our neighbors in Malawi. Now, more than ever, resources are stretched to keep up with inflation for this population which is the third poorest in the world. For example, a gallon of fuel now retails for $9.00/gallon which affects every area of the ministry. Click the link below and give a one-time or recurring donation to partner with us in continuing our mission. Together we can “reach the lost people in the last places” with the Gospel, and show the love of Christ with clean water, orphan care and more. Thank you!
