You Turn recently distributed emergency relief food packages to the Machinga people in southeastern Malawi. This area is still recovering from Tropical Cyclone Freddy, which devastated the east coast of Africa from February through March this year.
Cyclone Freddy was a record-breaking storm that developed northwest of Australia before traveling across the entire Indian Ocean. It lasted more than five weeks, making it the longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded. The government of Malawi declared a state of disaster in 10 southern districts that were hit hardest, calling for urgent humanitarian aid for those affected.
During our relief outreach, team members also baptized believers and gave away Bibles.
“Now that we have started new relationships with the people, we have a big task: praying, teaching, learning, and encouraging. It’s very important that we continue visiting them so we can help them understand spiritual and physical things as the Lord provides.” – Harold, You Turn missionary
