Seeds of Faith and Education
The month of October was a time of growth at the Mitundu Lighthouse. Our dedicated staff—including teachers Elina and Eunice—focused on both the children’s spiritual and academic growth. The garden produced vegetables for weekday meals and enough extra to send greens home with the staff and students. This may seem odd to our northern hemisphere friends, but in Malawi, it’s the start of summer! One major theme in the Bible studies was the devotional, “Jesus Is Called the Word,” and exploring the topic, “The Difference Between Good and Bad People.” These lessons, combined with the practical teachings from the Mailbox Club, are clearly taking root. The children are actively demonstrating their faith by reading and sharing Bible verses with their parents, which encourages their families to attend church! The staff also committed time each week to helping the children with their schoolwork, particularly English, Chichewa, and mathematics.A Community Transformed: Guardian Testimony
The spiritual and physical provision offered by the Lighthouse is transforming the Mitundu community, creating a lasting impact that extends beyond our facility. Weekly reports captured this testimony from a guardian who recently received a school uniform for her child: “Madgio’s guardian appreciated the school uniform which she has received here. She is so grateful for the provision to her daughter; she is saying, ‘God bless You Turn Ministries so that many needy may be reached’.” This gratitude reflects how the Lighthouse does more than just feed children; it restores dignity, relieves financial burdens on caretakers, and helps create a positive reputation for the children within their community.A Gift That Does Double Duty: Giving Tuesday 2025
Over 10,800 meals have been provided this year for our Lighthouse orphans. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas at the Lighthouses and launch into the new year, we are inviting you to make a gift that creates both immediate joy and lasting stability. For Giving Tuesday 2025, our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 3 to ensure a joyous end to the year for our 45 children and dedicated workers. This $10,000 goal is split between two upcoming needs:- $6,500: A Child’s Christmas. This covers the cost of the annual Christmas party and a backpack full of gifts for all 45 children and our workers.
- $3,500: A Month of Hope. This is the funding needed for our December operational expenses and staff support as we prepare to launch our New Year’s focus.
