October was a busy month for You Turn Ministries in the USA and Malawi. The Board of Directors, staff, and guests met to review the previous quarter and chart the path forward for future ministry initiatives. We’re very grateful for the time and support the Board invests into the ministry each year. Their advocacy is invaluable.
Pastor John Gordon joined Founder Joe Veal and the You Turn Malawi team for ministry in the Machinga District. Discipling existing churches and using well repair to provide opportunities to share the Gospel, the team blessed 6 villages with restored clean water access. Repairs included a school where 2000 students gather daily. The well near the school had been broken for four years.
Even though the rainy season had yet to start, Pastor John found enough standing water to baptize 10 new believers. A sunset showing of the Jesus Film in one village (shown above) was another way of sharing the love of Jesus with the people who warmly welcomed our team in the Machinga District.
Children who attended the Dedza Lighthouse in October learned about courageous faith from the books of Joshua and Hebrews and received help with their school studies. In Mitundu, students recited Bible verses, learned about Daniel and the lion’s den, and worked on enrichment in English, math, and social studies. Both locations continue to serve nutritious meals and snacks to the children each weekday before or after school.
Pastor Training Schools continued with all 30 students. The Msundwe school had an extra session with Founder Joe Veal as their guest teacher. Another location will launch in November, bringing the total student enrollment to 45. What a blessing to be investing in the lives of these men who will go on to pastor rural village churches!
Our Matching Funds Campaign has been extended through November 30, 2024, where donations to our general fund will be matched up to $125,000. We’re grateful to partners who are providing this opportunity to provide:
- essential discipleship and church leadership training
- orphan care and Christmas celebrations at our Lighthouses
- clean water projects in rural villages and
- emergency food distribution in districts where food scarcity is increasing daily
If you would like to bless southeast Africa through the ministry of You Turn, details about the campaign are linked at the top of this webpage.
