We’re thrilled to bring you the latest news from our three Pastor Training Schools in Malawi: 6-Miles, Mponela and Msundwe. Thanks to sponsor churches and individual donors, all three schools are making significant strides and are firmly on track for their projected graduation dates!
6-Miles Pastor Training School: Dedication and Deeper Understanding
The students at the 6-Miles school continue to impress with their unwavering commitment. Their attendance record is outstanding, with a 98.7% average from January to May 2025. We’re so encouraged by their dedication to their studies.
The curriculum has been comprehensive, providing a deep dive into Biblical texts:
- March: Students explored the Wisdom, Poetry, and Historical books as part of their Old Testament Survey.
- April: The Old Testament Survey continued with a focus on the Books of Prophecy.
- May: The curriculum shifted to a New Testament Survey, offering a broad understanding of its teachings.
We recently heard a powerful testimony from Wongoni Charles, a student at 6-Miles, illustrating the school’s profound impact. Wongoni shared, “Before this training, I was unable to interpret and apply the Bible correctly”. He expressed how “With the teaching and materials provided, I am understanding and feel supported”. He also highlighted the comfortable learning environment, noting, “We are given good, nutritious food and comfortable conditions while we are learning”.
Wongoni’s journey is truly inspiring. He recounted being “healed from a serious disease in 2015 after a pastor prayed for me”. This experience led to him feeling “God’s calling on me to share the Gospel”. Now, with the support of the school, he is actively “sharing the Gospel with lost people” and feels “encouraged to start new churches”. He even wants to “encourage others to study at this training school”!
Mponela Pastor Training School: Resilience and Personal Growth
The Mponela school also shows strong commitment with a 96% average attendance from January to May 2025. We’re particularly grateful that one of our students, Mustafa Jekapu, who was very ill in March and April, has now recovered. Please keep Mustafa in your prayers as he works to catch up on his studies.
The Mponela curriculum has been equally rigorous:
- March: Students focused on the Minor Prophets within their Old Testament Survey.
- April: The curriculum included more Old Testament Prophets, alongside an introduction to the New Testament with Acts and Romans.
- May: Students continued their New Testament Survey, covering Acts and Pauline letters.
Laston Mchoma, a student at Mponela, shared his powerful testimony in April. “My life is transforming in many ways, and attending the school is helping me personally”, Laston stated. He emphasized, “I am really being supported in my schooling”. Reflecting on his past, he said, “Before I received Jesus, I was a lost person. The Lord saved me and called me to serve him”. Laston expressed his gratitude, “Thanks for giving me the chance to learn. I am learning a lot at this school”.
Msundwe Pastor Training School:
This spring, compelling testimonies from the students at the Msundwe school underscored the how lives are changed by the Gospel and Biblical teaching.
Yembekezan Jepter shared a profound personal transformation. He recounts, “Before I became a born again, I was a sinner. As a sinner, I was a beer drunkard, short tempered, having two wives (polygamy) etc.” He vividly described how a church service, where the pastor “preached the Gospel of our Lord Jesus,” “turned me from my evil.” Since then, he has “paid my life to Christ” and has “been faithful to God.” Yembekezan feels that God “called me to be a pastor” and stated, “As I am giving this testimony, I am a pastor and my life has been changing. God is doing his work with me”.
Lyton Phiri also expressed deep gratitude and growth. He feels the Pastor Training School is helping him “fulfill the calling God has put in [his] life” because he now knows “how to be a man fearing God like David”. Lyton feels “supported because the books, and even the food, are good!”. Regarding his faith journey, he states, “Now, I know more about the Old Testament”. Lyton believes his “ministry will do better” because he has attended the Msundwe School.
These updates from 6-Miles, Mponela and Msundwe schools are a powerful reminder of the life-changing work happening in Malawi. Our general fund and church planting donors are directly contributing to equipping dedicated individuals to serve their communities and spread the Gospel. We invite you to be an essential part of this transformative journey!
